Getting into Competition
Several parents have asked the Coaching Team about competitions away from their clubs. There are lots on offer around the County and into other counties too. These are a great chance to enjoy competition and improve whilst playing.
If you are realtively new to competition then you will want to be looking at Grade 5s or 6s. If you have played a bit and think you can handle the level then perhaps Grade 4 Competitions may be appropriate. If unsure then please just ask me or your Coach and we can help.
The LTA has a great Competition finding tool on their website and we have put together a guide to use their search tools. You will need a rating which is detailed below to compete in LTA Competitions.

What is a rating?
A British tennis rating is a measuring tool that indicates a standard of play, as well as allowing you to record your progress as you develop your game. To get a rating you will need to join British Tennis which is free for all Juniors that are members at a club.
What's a Mini Tennis Rating
A similar system to the full rating with slight modifications to help Mini Tennis Players keep motivated and move through the rankings. For more details click on the photo below….
Mini Tennis is a great way for those children 10 and under to take their first steps in tennis. As well as being fun and exciting you will practise many of the same skills that the top pros work on every day. Now, with Mini Tennis Ratings, you will get more chances to compete against players of a similar standard in competitions and you can easily measure your tennis ability so you can see how you are improving. All rating changes from Red 4 to 8.2 happen on a daily basis once match results are recorded.
All players will move age group/ball colour in-line with the competition age group rules. Want to know your child's age group then click here... |
